2024-06-26

Professor Toby Kiers attended the Uitblinkerslunch (lunch of Excellence) yesterday, where she and other people with highly acclaimed distinctions joined king Willem-Alexander en queen Máxima for a royal lunch at Paleis Noordeinde in The Hague. Professor Kiers was able to discuss the role of fungi in sustainable agriculture and climate.

The lunch of Excellence is an event in which the king and queen want to express their appreciation for those who have achieved extraordinary feats in diverse sectors, not limited to science. Among the attendees were also the world champions in freerunning, swimming and cyclocross (sport), winners of the Young Captain Award (business), and winners of the Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium and the International Emmy Award (art & culture).
